Originally born as the Cincinnati Red Stockings, the team was bought in 1912 and the nickname Braves was chosen (inspired by Tamanend, a famous Native American leader). Other than a brief change to the Bees from 1936-1941, the organization retained the name when it moved to Milwaukee in 1953, and then to Atlanta in 1966.

America’s oldest professional sports team can boast three World Series championship titles from 1914 as the Boston Braves, 1957 as the Milwaukee Braves, and 1995 in Atlanta.
